I don't see a reversal at all. NGC has never been a credible source, and this is just a refusal on their part to admit it. Their claim that they had this leaked before E3 is another red flag by itself. They couldn't even have known what the controller was at that point (and even if they did, these are the sort of guys who would feel "crazy not to print it").

I'm not ruling out the possibility that the new Zelda will have forward-compatible unlockables or features, but the puff piece in that magazine was wild speculation and nothing more. It contained an extravagant level of detail on how the functionality would work, which felt ripped straight from any fanboy discussion board.
